There will be NO in-person worship until further notice.

Hello friends,

I really did not want to have to write you this note. However, due to the fact that our primary concern is the health and safety of all of our community of faith and our wider community, we are reverting back to streaming worship only until the size of a gathering is increased beyond the order limiting indoor gatherings to 25 people and outdoor gatherings to 250 people. We will stream services at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

Once these orders are lifted, we will resume in-person worship.

Lastly, the church office will be closed. You may leave concerns via voice mail or email. We regret the disruption this will cause to our lives.

This decision was made by the task force appointed by the Consistory related to use of the building during this Covid-19 pandemic.

I wish you all good health these days. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Pastor Jeff

Our new Director of Music Ministry

We are excited to welcome Donna to our St. John’s family. After a thorough search for two separate musicians, one for the Contemporary worship service and one for the Classic worship service, our search committee was pleased to find that rare person who combines experience and excellence in both types of worship. Donna begins her ministry with us on August 16.

During these challenging times of not knowing when choirs and choral groups can sing again in worship (the current thinking is not until there is an approved vaccine that is in widespread use), Donna brings a curiosity about exploring virtual or prerecorded singing groups for our worship services. She comes to us from a position of being the Music Director at Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church in Stroudsburg since 2009. She has served in various congregations since 1978 as either an organist or music director. She is also a piano and organ teacher. She has been married 38 years to her husband, Bill, and they have two daughters, Danielle and Jessica. All of whom have degrees in music. Please join us in welcoming Donna!

Holiday Food Baskets

The Social Concerns Committee is planning to provide a Thanksgiving meal this year to 40 families within the Northampton County Children and Youth Program (NCCY). Since we are not meeting in the church at this time, we decided to collect the food a little differently this year.

We are asking you to send a check for any amount to the church office. Please note on the check "for Social Concerns" and make it out to St. John's UCC. We will use it to purchase Giant Gift Cards through the church’s Gift Card Program and then purchase the food for you.

If you would rather purchase the items from the menu, you may drop the items off at the church on the following dates: Saturday, October 3, 10 and 31 between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. Someone will be at the door to assist you.

Both the Thanksgiving and Christmas menus will be posted here in a link when available.

We will follow a similar plan for the Christmas Food Baskets thru November. As always, thank you for your kindness and concern and for shining a little light on our families during the holidays.
